I grew up
in a small mountain town in eastern Pennsylvania. After graduating
from DeSales University in 1991, I subsequently attended Harvard
Law School and earned my Juris Doctorate in 1994. I moved to Raleigh,
North Carolina in 2001 after living in the Boston area for a number
of years.
My life path
has been evolving for quite some time. I practiced law for eight
years after graduating from law school, but in my heart, I knew
that I was in the wrong profession. I felt tired and drained by
my work, and I knew that I had to make a major change in my life.
After much
reflection and soul-searching, I decided to become a massage therapist.
I graduated from the North Carolina School of the Healing Arts in
Raleigh in April 2003. I also became a Second Degree Reiki practitioner
during the course of my studies. Becoming a massage therapist has
allowed me to serve others in a positive, uplifting way.
I also began
pursuing other career options that I felt were more in line with
my higher self. I became an ordained minister in 2002, and I now
perform numerous wedding ceremonies every year. I also took up the
study of handwriting analysis, which has been rewarding on many
levels. For more information, please visit http://reverendtricia.com

Early in 2006,
I sustained an injury that caused me to substantially cut back on
my massage practice. This was a frustrating time for me. I was not
sure what kind of work I would do to support myself because massage
work had been providing the bulk of my income.
Because I needed
money to survive, I decided to go back to the legal profession after
being completely away from it for three years. I took on some independent
contracting projects, and then I settled into a part-time job with
Legal Aid of North Carolina, which provides services to low-income
clients. I work on the phone, providing legal advice to people who
call in to Legal Aid's hotline. After disliking most of my work
in the legal profession, I have settled into this job, and I celebrated
my two-year anniversary with Legal Aid in April 2008.
Although I
am content at Legal Aid, I knew that my spirit was calling me to
do something more. My injury caused me to take another look within
to see where I should go next.
I started
to examine my core values, and what I realized is that I have always
loved to play, to have fun, and to LAUGH!!! In part, being a lawyer
never seemed like the right profession for me because it is so SERIOUS.
Everything about the legal profession is serious. On the other hand,
I am a very silly person by nature. By practicing law full time,
I felt like I had to suppress my true personality.
When I heard
about the World Laughter Tour, I absolutely knew in my heart that
becoming a laughter leader was something that I needed to do. For
the first time in my life, I now know that I am doing work that
is aligned with my true self. Being a laughter leader truly resonates
with my heart and my soul! And it keeps me sane!! ;o)
With my transition
into being a laughter leader, my life is now feeling very balanced,
and I hope to be able to help you balance yours as well!
